UWBC’s Cores Expand Green Practices

UWBC has been working hard to instill more green practices into the cores. Currently, besides regular campus recycling of plastic and cardboard, cores have joined two programs to reduce landfill waste. The first is Polycarbin. This program recycles plastic tip boxes into more plastic tip boxes. Since joining late 2022, UWBC DNA Seq Facility has recycled, circularized, or diverted 63 lbs of plastic from tip boxes. The Animal Models Facility has recycled, circularized or diverted 209 lbs of plastic from tip boxes since early 2022. In addition to tip box plastic, UWBC also participates in glove recycling. In 2022, UWBC recycled over 500lbs of gloves with Kimberly-Clark’s RightCycle program. Join us on April 18th in the Biotech Atrium to learn more about how your lab can join this program! Refreshments will be served. Event will be 11:00 AM -1:00 PM.
